Thorogood's second collaboration with the gallery expands on the idea of Wearable Home.

Fascia is a hybrid of of fashion/centre/inner/apparel. It is defined as 'a flat surface...fibrous connective tissue occuring in sheets...a distinctive band of colour'.

'As much as my design work involves a fascination with stealth aviation, it seemed logical to derive bands from sections and panelling of current and new-generation stealth aircraft. In exactly the same way the words were fused together so would sections from a wing and the fuselage be fused resulting in a series of strange and abstracted shapes. These forms were then scaled up to create free-standing sculptures that would dramatically range in size and colour. These would not only interact with one another but also generate interesting relationships with the viewer, creating simple fashion compositions'

Simon Thororgood

A complete family of 9 Fascia constructions are shown alongside two garments from his current s/s 2001 collection . The two mannequins have been kindly provided by Adel Rootstein.
